Navigation in the South Pacific

Polynesians are amazing navigators, before Columbus discovered America they’d traveled throughout the pacific ocean, using a coconut shell filled with water as a quadrant, they learned to take angles on the sun and stars. They’re understanding of the elements the wind, waves and currents was far superior to any civilization at this point in time. They’re ability to guide a clumsy wooden craft through hidden openings in coral reefs or to steady it on the crest of formidable waves is unthinkable. I can assure you this is no easy task, what we’ve seen in our travels has been some amazing seamanship on behalf of the Tahitians!!!.
