Frigates Birds Nuka Oa Island Atuona Valley

Sitting  here on the patio over looking the Pointe Teaehoa from the Pension Hanahau, you can see the Frigates bird coming in from the sea, in pairs of 2 as if they ‘re is a male and a female, as they  fly in to the interior of the Island of Hiva Oa. I’ve always wondered where they lived well I found it.  You can see them circling over a large fresh water pond in the harbor valley here in Atuona.  They dive down and drink off the pond while in flight, it’s the most amazing sight. Here’s a picture of the pound, you can see a herd of wild horses to the right of the 3 ponds. Sorry about the haze in the second image, that’s smoke in the valley from natives burning.
